Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce : exchange program launched in 2009 for teachers to "gain insight" into the Middle East "culture, challenges and opportunities experienced by their peers". Exchanges typically occur in November, while applications are due in July. [email protected] Earthwatch Teacher Fellowships: for teachers who are passionate about teaching and interested in conservation/environmental sustainability Fulbright Programs: The Fulbright Program provides approximately 8,000 competitive, merit-based grants each year. You're bound to find something aligned with your interests! Fund for Teachers Fellowships:I applied for this program this year, as part of a study team. The FFT fellowships enable educators to design their own professional development programs and studies, for individuals or teams, international or domestic. Global Exploration for Education Organization: a massive range of different travel locations for educators, and if you don't see one you like, they will work with you to design an alternative one. Take a look, you just might find something on your bucket list (aka, "To-Do List"). Grosvenor Teacher Fellowships From National Geographic: National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions take K-12 geography teachers on expeditions around the world.; educators selected for fellowship trips each year participate in professional development and curriculum-building activities. Institute of International Education: The IIE compiles lists of educational opportunities for teachers, including teacher exchanges, summer institutes, webinars, contests, publications, etc. Definitely worth a look! NEA List of Teacher Travel Grants: 10 scholarships to make your classroom richer, from design-your-own experience to funding development projects, to working on scientific experiments Primary Source: (study tours, as well as online courses and amazing resources for global education) From their website: "designed to deepen educators’ knowledge of the world so that they are better able to enhance cultural understanding in their classrooms and communities. Participants travel with other educators who share a passion for world history and cultural exchange." Qatar Foundation International: K-12 Social Studies or Fine Arts Teachers: $2000 grants for teachers to participate in PD programs related to the Arab World. Can include attendance at workshops, conferences, summer institutes, seminars, or educational courses. Funds can be applied toward travel and registration costs associated with attending relevant professional development directly related to the Middle East or the Arab world. Rotary World Peace Scholar Fellowships: 2-year study fellowships at one of 5 international universities; they also have a certificate program; I went through this program in 2002-2004, and can't begin to tell you how transformational it was to my thinking, my perspectives, and my humanitarian desires. Highly recommended! Scholarships and Grants for Travel and Volunteering Abroad Travellers Quest lists 37 grants/ scholarships for a range of beneficiaries, from students to people who want to "travel for good". Definitely a variety of destinations, purposes, and experiences! Teachers for Global Classrooms: program through the Department of State's Bureau of Cultural Affairs and IREX/; the description from their website describes it as a "year-long professional development opportunity for United States elementary, middle and high school teachers to become leaders in global education" Teaching Traveling! This site is a treasure trove of "boots on the ground" traveling teachers and opportunities. The American Turkish Society Curriculum Development Grants Curriculum Development Grants in the amounts of $250-$2,500, through The American Turkish Society, (NY-based non-profit); dedicated to enhancing ties between Turkey and the United States. Grantees can attend teaching workshops in Turkey w/expenses covered. Deadline: Bi-Annual Deadline of May 31st and November 30th (Max Grant: $2,500)
